Social anxiety disorder makes it difficult for people to feel relaxed around others. An intense fear of disapproval is constantly present in a socially anxious person’s mind.
What may come as a surprise to most people is that higher social anxiety is linked to more aggressive behavior in dating. A study from the University of Maine shows that men who are overly concerned with how their partner perceives them are more likely to lash out with their words or with their actions. The stress of trying to impress a romantic partner and the fear of being rejected are likely to blame for the aggression.
